Please click on the main lunch item to see a list of all foods that will be served on a particular day. This menu will be updated (occasionally the day of) if the lunch menu item needs to change due to possible order, delivery, and supply issues beyond our control.
Dear Parents,
Our Renaissance kitchen serves delicious, hot, and healthy meals for our students and free and reduced meals for any child who qualifies under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
MENU
The menu is posted above. If you would like a hard copy, you can request it from the front office or from Linda Maxfield, our Food Service Manager (email: lmaxfield@renacademy.org), but remember that changes must occur due to spoilage or supply problems that can occur and are often beyond our control
Starting in October, the “main dish” can be changed as the child recieves her/his lunch to a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich or a meat sandwich.

APPLYING FOR FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
See Free and Reduced Lunches for more information. Every effort will be made to prevent overt identification of any student using this service. We welcome all applications. Applications need to be turned into Linda Maxfield as soon as possible. There will be a slight turnaround time for the verification process and you will receive notification of acceptance or denial. Students will not be eligible for free and reduced until approved and it is not retroactive. If you have a Food Stamp or TANF case number or the FDPIR case number, you are categorically eligible. All others must go through the approval process, based on the total income of the household.
ORDERING LUNCH
Monday through Thursday mornings, teachers count students who need school lunch. The lunch count will then be taken to the kitchen no later than 8:30 am. Parents, please take time to explain that children who have a lunch from home must NOT raise their hand to order a lunch that YOU don’t plan on paying for.
LAST MINUTE MEALS
If, due to the morning rush or other conditions, your child does not have a lunch for the day, the in-class count allows for your child to raise a hand, be counted, and receive lunch. Receiving a lunch means the full price of the lunch (see pricing above) will be charged to the student’s account. HOWEVER, if you anticipate needing that service at some point, you MUST put money in the student’s account BEFORE the need. No negative balances will be carried forward this year.
If check or cash is used in the serving line, the cost for the lunch, as noted above, will be $0.50 more or $3.00 per meal. Please send the exact amount as we can’t make change in the serving line. Any extra money will be added to the student’s account.
If there is no balance in the account, we will provide an emergency lunch consisting of a roll and milk for free.
PAYMENT
Parents should pay for student lunches by cash or check in the front office. Each student must have an individual account, rather than a “family” account. You can either write separate checks for each child or we will split the money evenly between your children. While the money is paid in the front office, ultimately, it will be the responsibility of the Food Service Manager to enter and track the payments and debits. If you experience any issues, please contact Linda Maxfield @ 801-768-4202 x5112 or lmaxfield@renacademy.org. The Food Service Manager will notify you when your lunch account balance is getting low. She can stamp the student’s hand (if preferable) and/or send a reminder email.
SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS
If your child is unable to eat the school meal as prepared because of a disability, the school must have on file a written statement signed by a licensed physician indicating what the child’s disability is, what foods must be omitted from the child’s diets, and what foods must be substituted. See the Special Diet Needs section for more information.
Thank you so much for your patience and support,
Linda Maxfield
Food Service Manager
