The 50/50 model means in elementary school, students stay in the Chinese and English classrooms half of the day each. In 1st – 3rd grades, students learn math, science, social studies and Chinese literacy in the Chinese classroom. The English partner teachers teach English language arts and reinforce the subjects which are taught in the Chinese classrooms. In 4th and 5th grade, English teachers start teaching math and the majority of social studies in their classrooms, and Chinese teachers help reinforce math in Chinese classrooms.
In 6th grade, the social studies class shifts back to Chinese class. Students take Chinese language class and social studies class daily at school.
