llystrup@renacademy.orgTell us about yourself!
I grew up in Highland, Utah and now live in American Fork. I have 2 cats and 1 Bernese Mountain dog. My hobbies include boating, traveling (especially cruising), playing board games, and spending time with my husband and our 3 little boys. Ever since 3rd grade, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. In junior high, I developed a love for math and actually enjoyed doing my math homework over any other homework I would receive. I graduated from UVU with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and began my career in 2010 teaching 4th grade at Mount Mahogany. In 2011, I moved to Highland Elementary and taught 5th grade there for 12 years. I absolutely loved teaching all things 5th grade, but the times I loved the most were when I was teaching math. I am excited to help the students at Renaissance Academy develop a love for math, too!
What is your favorite subject to teach?
My favorite subject to teach is obviously math! I love helping students develop a love for it, too!
What do you love most about education?
I love helping students grow and develop a love for school. I cherish the relationships I get to build through teaching. I enjoy creating lessons that excite students and motivate them to become life-long learners.
