BIOGRAPHY

Mardee Merrill

School Counselor and 504 Coordinator

Mardee Merrill has previously served as Renaissance Academy’s school counselor and is really looking forward to being back to work with the wonderful students, families and faculty! She began her counseling career serving youth in custody students in foster care and juveniles transitioning out of correctional facilities. This year will mark the 19th year that Mardee will be working in a counseling position to help support children with social, emotional and behavioral needs. Ms. Merrill loves working with youth because she believes as an educator, she has the opportunity to make an enormous (even life altering) impact in children’s lives!

Ms. Merrill graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology and a certificate of Criminology. She went on to graduate school where she earned a Masters of Education(Educational Psychology) from the University of Phoenix. Mardee has worked with students ranging in ages Kindergarten through Twelfth Grades and has experience in both public districts as well as charter schools. Ms. Merrill is a certified Hope Squad Advisor. She is looking forward to running the Hopesuicidal prevention and anti-bullying program. Mardee will also be setting up college and career readiness meetings (throughout the school year) with Renaissance Academy’s ninth grade students and their parents to help prepare our freshmen for a successful transition into tenth grade.  

During Mardee’s free time, she enjoys the weekends with her son, daughter, family, friends and pets. Ms. Merrill’s favorite pastime is traveling in and outside of the United States. Some of her favorite vacations have been to Hawaii, New York City, Montana, Washington DC, Paris and Hong Kong. Mardeeenjoys movies, theater, cooking, reading, decorating, volunteering and laughing with loved ones!
