Mark Ursic spent fifteen years directing operations and strategic planning in the private sector. He has spent the last fifteen years leading Renaissance Academy.
That earlier career included a California Caterpillar dealership and contract operations for private schools and universities, including California Baptist University, Seton Hall, and the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Renaissance Academy is the first public school he has served. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Brigham Young University.
Under his leadership, the school has grown by more than 180 students and expanded its campus through a restructuring of its bond financing. He built the partnerships that anchor the language program — the Arabic Flagship Program at BYU, the Confucius Institute at the University of Utah, the Asia Society, and the Qatar Foundation — and in 2026 signed a sister-school agreement with Xining No. 21 Middle School in Qinghai Province.
All five of his children have attended Renaissance Academy, the youngest still in elementary school.
"It's been a privilege to come to work where I get to see my own kids every day, and work alongside the teachers and staff who make Renaissance a truly great place."
