Tell us about yourself!

I grew up right here in Utah County! I've had some adventures that led me to living in Suriname, Curacao, and (possibly the most exotic of all) Cache Valley while attending Utah State University. I love the outdoors and getting as dirty as I can when I'm not in the classroom! My husband and I love to hit the rocks and climb whenever we can. Some of our favorite places to explore are in Moab and City of Rocks. When I'm not working hard, I am playing hard! :)

What is your favorite subject to teach?

Social Studies and Writing!

What do you love most about education?

My roots in education started while working at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center (founded by our very own Victor Williamson!) Spending so much of my formative years there helped me to really come to appreciate and love the "discipline of wonder." Helping students in the classroom approach learning with a sense of wonder has been one of my favorite things. As I've started making the transition from full simulated learning to teaching in the classroom, I've enjoyed finding ways to bridge that gap. Allowing students to experience more of what they are learning helps to keep things interesting for us both and I love seeing their fresh perspective along the way.
